Frequently asked questions
Practical information to prepare your residency and relocation in Uruguay.
What does the consultant do during the residency/relocation process?
The consultant schedules your Immigration appointment, accompanies you and helps you obtain all required documentation so you can receive residency as quickly as possible.
The consultant also connects you with the professionals required for your relocation, such as a banking executive, healthcare provider, insurance agent, real estate agent and customs broker, and guides you throughout the process.
What is the difference between the residency and relocation packages?
You can review the detailed comparison of the three support levels on the Services page.
Where in Uruguay are your services available?
My team’s services are available in Montevideo and Maldonado.
What happens during the Immigration appointment?
It is an administrative process in which your passport and the other required documents you have obtained are scanned to complete your application.
Once your application is complete during the appointment or in the following months, it will be submitted for review and approval.
How long does permanent residency take?
It may be obtained within six months if the applicant brings all required foreign documents to Uruguay and obtains all required Uruguayan documents during the first days of their stay.
Who should apply for permanent residency?
I recommend it to people who want to live in Uruguay permanently or for at least 180 days per year.
I also recommend it to people who need a Uruguayan ID card to access a lower-cost resident bank account, tax benefits or the import of personal belongings into Uruguay.
How do I obtain a Uruguayan ID card?
You must apply for residency before Immigration and present the holder’s passport to obtain a Uruguayan ID card.
How long is the Uruguayan ID card valid?
The validity and type of ID card depend on your immigration status and the registration of your birth/marriage certificate with the Civil Registry.
Residency-in-process ID: valid for two years and obtained after the Immigration appointment.
Permanent resident ID: valid for three years and obtained after the residency application is approved and the birth/marriage certificate is registered.
Provisional permanent resident ID: valid for one year and obtained after residency approval without registration of the birth/marriage certificate. It does not provide access to permanent residency benefits.
Which documents are required for legal residency?
Passport plus Uruguayan translation if it does not include Spanish subtitles.
Passport-style photo.
Uruguayan vaccination certificate.
Uruguayan health card.
FBI criminal background certificate, federal apostille and Uruguayan translation.
Uruguayan notarized income certificate.
Marriage certificate, apostille and Uruguayan translation.
Birth certificate, apostille and Uruguayan translation (for applicants under 18, issued less than one year ago).
Do I need vaccinations to obtain the Uruguayan vaccination certificate?
Yes, if you do not have a prior vaccination record showing at least two tetanus doses and two measles doses. The measles vaccine does not apply to people over 60.
An antibody blood test is not a valid substitute, no exceptions apply and COVID vaccinations are not required.
How do I obtain the Uruguayan health card?
Visit a specialized health laboratory with the required samples and tests.
Requirements:
Passport.
Urine sample.
Blood sample after fasting for six hours.
Uruguayan vaccination certificate.
Pap smear for women aged 25 to 60, valid for up to three years.
Mammogram for women aged 50 to 69, valid for up to two years.
Glasses, if applicable.
I recommend Biotec laboratory in Montevideo and CAVICA laboratory in Maldonado.

Person who will make the payment.
Scan/photo of each beneficiary’s passport.
Address in the United States.
Email address of each beneficiary.
Mobile phone number of each beneficiary.
Full names of each beneficiary’s parents.
Which payment methods do you accept?
